This five‐mile walk transects decomposed volcanic rock called “propylite” that forms rounded hills. With an 800‐foot elevation gain, we take the excursion at a moderate pace to relish a wide‐variety of views. We will witness rugged peaks and bucolic valleys; unencumbered vista of the northern Sacramento Valley and magnificent Bragg’s Canyon. Tour includes instruction on Sutter Butte geology and the mountain’s unique biological community. This route is different than last season. Difficulty Level 4 of 5 $15 YHS member/$25 nonmember.
