On this hike we circumnavigate Cat Rock, a dacite dome split in half,
ascending 500’ above Peace Valley. We begin the trip with a visit to an
ancient Indian encampment then trek to a prominent rock outcrop for a
view of Peace Valley. After this we ascend higher for a grand vista of the northern Sacramento Valley. From there we work our way around the flank of Cat Rock to enjoy a close up view of the mountain’s shear walls. The excursion concludes with a refreshing visit to a waterfall and lush vegetation along Cat Rock Creek. This is a new hike.
